The information threshold for the concentration of airborne particulate matter PM10 in the region of ÃŽle-de-France (France) was exceeded * times in 2022. The threshold was surpassed in over ** days in 2012, but it decreased to *** exceedances per year in 2014 and stabilized around this value until 2022. The alert threshold was exceeded until 2016, with **** to **** days above the threshold per year. No episodes of air pollution by nitrogen dioxide (NO2) were registered in ÃŽle-de-France in 2021 and 2022. The exceedance of the information threshold may represent a risk for the share of the population that is sensitive to air pollution. On the other hand, the health risk of the totality of the population would increase if exposed to a pollutant as high as the concentration indicated by the alert threshold.
