Greenhouse gas emissions in the UK - Statistics & Facts
The United Kingdom has made good progress in cutting emissions in recent decades, and in 2022 it became the first major economy in the world to halve greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from 1990 levels. The country has managed to achieve these reductions while also growing its economy by 80 percent during the same period. The UK now aims to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, but faces many challenges along the way.
