Deployment of microgrids in the United States reached a record number of *** in 2019. The majority of completed projects are fueled by fossil energy. One notable exception were those additions by The American Red Cross, which was one of organizations responsible for over of installations that year. Despite the peak in microgrid additions seen in 2019, initial figures for 2020 reflect the industry's insecurity amid the coronavirus pandemic.
