Even though HEMA’s and Blokker’s situation cannot be compared one-on-one, they do share the same burden: the growing power of e-commerce and discounters in a highly competitive environment. As of 2017/18, Blokker recorded a net loss of roughly * euros, significantly more compared to the previous year. In 2019, Hema's net result was a loss of about * euros.
