The civil aviation industry has witnessed fast growth in recent years. The south Asian country became the -largest domestic aviation market across the globe and was estimated to overtake the United Kingdom, to become the -largest overall air passenger market in 2025.

The number of international passenger arrivals in the country has increased gradually over the past few years. Rise in working group and middle-class incomes have accelerated air travel. Domestic as well as international passenger and freight traffic has increased gradually. As of August 2023, the country had *** operational airports. Boost from tourism

The winter months attract more tourist arrivals, as the temperatures are moderate across the relatively hotter regions. The e-visa scheme, which is presumably to double the tourist inflow in the country, will likely push the aviation industry as well towards further development in services and infrastructure.
