In 2024, Australia accounted for 34.9 percent of global coal exports based on value, making it the world's largest coal exporting nation by a significant margin. Meanwhile, Indonesia came in second place, and was responsible for approximately 19 percent of the world's coal exports.Â
The total global coal exports had a sales value of 160.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2024.
