In Germany, 24.9 kidney transplant procedures were carried out per million population in 2024. Liver transplants were the second most carried out transplant procedure in Germany, with 10.7 transplants per million population.
There were nearly 9,200 patients waiting for a kidney transplant in Germany in 2024. There was a slight decrease in the number of active patients awaiting a kidney transplant compared to the previous year. Additionally, the number of patients requiring either a liver or pancreas transplant has slightly increased since 2022.Â
°Õ³ó±ðÌýrate of kidney transplants in Germany in 2024 was low compared to other EU countries. However, Germany was placed before Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, and other five countries. Additionally, Germany was in the lower half of EU nations when it came to liver transplant rates in 2024, with Belgium leading the way with more than 30 procedures per million population.
