* According to the source, total tax includes the taxes that the Belgian federal tax administration collected and are reported in the federal Ways and Means budget. They also include the collected taxes that are transferred to different government levels and different institutions like for example the social Security Funds, the Regions, the Communities and the EU. This total of taxes collected on the federal level, however, does not include taxes that are transferred to local governments. Part of the total tax are the direct taxes, which consist of taxes on vehicles, withholding tax on movable income, advance payments, assessment receipts personal income tax, assessment receipts corporate income tax, and wage withholding tax.
The figures have been taken from several publications.
In Belgium, the total direct tax receipts, including corrections, amounted to 65 billion euros in 2019. From 2010 to 2019, direct tax receipts increased overall. However, slight decreases occured in 2014, 2016, and 2019.
