Since 2016, Belgian beer is even listed in UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Belgians consumed on average ** liters of beer in 2022. Belgian beer consumption was far from being confined to the country. Whilst Belgium's beer production exceeded ** million hectoliters in 2024, it also exported consequent amounts of it to the European Union and outside the EU.
