Citation formats

The number of POS terminals in Sweden varied during the last years. There were more than 245 thousand POS terminals in the country in 2020. Though the number of terminals fluctuated during the period, the number of transactions made from POS terminals in the country increased steadily from 2008 to 2019   

POS terminals transaction value 

 T�� transaction value of payments made at POS terminals in Sweden followed a pattern different from both the number of transactions, and the number of terminals. In fact, the transaction value increased every year until 2016 and made an especially significant jump from 2015 to 2016, when it reached 997 billion Swedish kronor. Eventually, in the two years following the peak in 2016, the value decreased relatively rapid again.   

Comparison with Denmark 

   Just like in Sweden, the value of transactions made at POS terminals in Denmark increased steadily during the first observed years, but hit the peak one year earlier, in 2015. The value dropped significantly during the following year, and unlike Sweden, then started to increase again.
