In 2024, around 8.17 million people visited movie theaters in Norway. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the number of admissions in Norwegian cinemas more than halved from 2019 to 2020. Back then, not even five million people visited the cinema in 2020, down from over 11 million admissions recorded the year before. By 2024, the number of admissions is on its way to recovery from this drop. More than half of the admissions that year were recorded by cinema chains ODEON and Nordisk Film Kino.
