Citation formats

This statistic displays the proportion of adults who engaged with the arts in the last year in England, between 2005 and 2020, by employment status. Arts engagement refers to attending and/or participating in the arts sector, such as visiting an art gallery or participating in a theatre performance. Although the share of working respondents engaging in the arts tended to be higher, the percentage of out of work respondents still remained relatively high. In 2019/20, **** percent of respondents not working took part in at least one art event or activity in the year prior to the survey, compared to **** percent of working population.
