The U.S. state with the highest average price per gallon of maple syrup was Connecticut, at 81.7 U.S. dollars in 2024. Massachusetts had the second highest price on average, at聽57.3 U.S. dollars per gallon of maple syrup.
Canada takes great pride in being a major producer of maple syrup worldwide. In 2024, Canada generated close to聽20 million gallons of maple syrup, up from 10.4聽million gallons the year before. The United States also produces a large volume of maple syrup, at just under聽six聽million gallons in that year.
In the United States, maple syrup is traditionally eaten with pancakes, waffles, or French toast. There are many maple syrup imitation products on the market which are much less expensive than genuine maple syrup but that taste similar. These are often referred to as 鈥減ancake syrup鈥 and include brands such as Mrs. Buttersworth and Log Cabin. It is estimated that around 272 million Americans use pancake and table syrup as of 2020. The most used brand of pancake/table syrup in the United States is Aunt Jemima.
