Oil refinery capacity in Europe 2024, by select country
Among European countries, Germany had the highest refinery capacity in 2024, with a capacity of more than * barrels per day. While Germany has the highest capacity of any European nation, the capacity is relatively small when viewed in a global setting. For example, the United States has a daily oil refinery capacity of around **** million barrels per day, and China has the capacity to produce approximately **** million barrels per day.
In 2023, European oil exports amounted to approximately * barrels per day, up from *** million barrels per day in 2004.
