In 2019, some 67.7 percent of all United States chemical exports were attributable to its basic chemicals segment. Thus, this was the leading segment regarding exports within the U.S. chemical industry by far. In a distant second place that year was the specialty chemicals segment, accounting for 18.5 percent of U.S. chemical exports.
