* Parents in the United Kingdom who take their children on holidays during term time can face fines up to 60 British pounds per pupil per parent. If the fine is not paid within seven days, the amount rises to 120 British pounds. Refusal to pay altogether could mean a fine as high as 2,500 British pounds. The rules were introduced in September 2013.
