Regional coverage of safely managed sanitation facilities varies greatly around the world. Roughly ** percent of the populations in Australia and New Zealand, and Europe and Northern America had access to safely managed services in 2022. In comparison, just ** percent had access to these services in Sub-Saharan Africa. Since 2000, the number of people with access to safely managed sanitation services is estimated to have more than doubled worldwide.
