In 2025, Verizon had * million wireless retail connections, up from * million in 2024. Verizon’s acquisition of TracFone in late 2021 significantly increased the operator’s prepaid subscriber base, contributing to an approximately ** percent jump in total wireless retail connections for that year.
Verizon is one of the largest U.S. telecom companies, alongside Verizon and T-Mobile US. AT&T leads the wireless market when measured by connections. As of the first quarter of 2024, around **** percent of U.S. wireless connections were operated by Verizon, while T-Mobile US and AT&T operated around **** and **** percent, respectively. Unsurprisingly, Verizon generated the most revenue of the three operators in 2023, with AT&T's revenue declining sharply after having spun-off its interests in the media company WarnerMedia.
