Global consumption of pesticides

Pesticides are substances used in agriculture to control the appearance of pests or regulate plant growth. The consumption volume of pesticides has grown significantly during the last three decades, reaching **** million metric tons in 2022. This translates into **** kilograms of pesticides per hectare of cropland worldwide, a figure that has remained stable during the last decade.

Regional distribution

The Americas are the region that consumes by far the most pesticides worldwide with over half of the global consumption in 2022.
