The total budget expenditure of the European Union amounted to 239 billion euros in 2023. Half of the budget was allocated to Cohesion and Resilience, financing projects including the European Regional Development Fund, the Recovery and Resilience Facility, Erasmus+, and the European Solidarity Corps. The second-largest expenditure cluster was Natural resources and Environment, with almost 60 billion euros allocated to finance agriculture, fishery, and climate action.Â
