MPS commodities for India are: wheat, maize, rice, soybean, rapeseed, groundnuts, chick pea, other pulses, potatoes, onion, tomatoes, mango, bananas, sugar, cotton, milk, bovine meat, sheep meat, poultry and eggs. 

MPS is calculated after subtracting producer levies and any extra feed costs.

In 2024, market price support commodities (MPS) took a percent share in India's total value of production at farm gate. This was up from percent in 2022, the start of the period under review. 

Market Price Support (MPS) commodities such as wheat and maize receive government support, protecting the domestic market and ensuring farmers receive enough to maintain production. This is usually done through instruments such as import tariffs, quotas, and guaranteed purchase prices.
