According to a survey carried out in March 2026, ** percent of over 65-year-olds in the United States felt that the risk of diseases such as measles returning was not worth taking, even if people feel like getting vaccinated violates their freedoms. On the other hand, around **** of those aged between 35 and 44 years said the return of measles was a price worth paying to give people a choice to get vaccinated or not.

Experts state the risk of outbreaks of diseases such as measles increases considerably when vaccination levels drop below 90 percent. In 2025, the number of measles cases in the U.S. reached its highest annual figure since 1992.
