As of 2022, adults in Portugal had the highest prevalence of physical inactivity in Europe, with over **** of adults not meeting weekly physical activity guidelines. Physical inactivity levels were also relatively high in Serbia and Turkey. On the other hand, it was estimated that fewer than **** percent of adults in Sweden were not physically active.
It is recommended that adults do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity a week or 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous-intensity physical activity. A lack of physical activity can increase the risk for noncommincable diseases such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.Â
