The source adds the following information: "By coworking space, we mean an independent workspace that places sharing and openness at the heart of its space project. The community and collaborative DNA, what we call the 'co,' is its foundation. Therefore, the following are excluded from this definition: - Shared offices, telecenters, spots in an open space, or offices for rent in a business center. - Fablabs (fabrication spaces) or specialized studios, due to the specificity of their activity. - Corpoworking, a space set up by a company to accommodate its employees and offer them a work environment inspired by coworking. - Most incubators, accelerators, living labs, and other startup support structures. To develop our corpus of spaces, we have therefore adhered to this definition. This explains why the figures presented here may differ depending on whether the original sources include shared offices, incubators, etc., in their definition. We have chosen not to include criteria regarding the size of the space or the number of places offered because existing public data are too fragmented."
