Electronic clinical record systems, also known as ECRS, allow the use of information technologies for recording a person's demographic and health data. In 2018, the percentage of public units with ECRS in Mexico was 33.7 percent. While in the case of certain institutions such as the National System for Integral Family Development (DIF) and Mexican Petroleum (PEMEX), 100 percent of their health units used electronic clinical record systems, others such as the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSTE) and state health services recorded less than half of their units with ECRS that year.
