The statistic represents the amount of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers delivered in France per year over the period from 1972 to 2018, in kilograms per hectare. Two trends can be observed. The first concerns the use of phosphate fertilizers, which decreases sharply, going from ** kg per hectare in 1975/1976 to only *** in 2017/2018. Conversely, there is a very strong increase in the amount of nitrogen fertilizers. Although it was already the most used type of fertilizer in 1973, the quantity per hectare increased significantly until 1991, reaching almost 100 kg per hectare, but has since decreased by about fifteen kilograms per hectare.
It should be noted, however, that the third most common type of fertilizer is not present in the data, even though potash-based fertilizers are widely used and also growing in use.
