Since 2019, the unemployment rate in Italy's active population has remained below 10 percent. In 2023, it stood at 7.7 percent, representing a decrease of 0.4 percentage points compared to the previous year. Despite this improvement, Italy is one of the members of the European Union with the highest unemployment rates.
