Due to the census published by the INE, the data for 2013 were recalculated and, from that year onward, a new series begins that is not comparable with previous data. The data for 2013 include from December 2012 to November 2013.

Citation formats

The most consumed cheese until 2021 was fresh cheese. However, starting in 2022, that leadership shifted to semi-cured cheese. Specifically, the consumption of this variety of cheese within the country reached around 108.5 million kilograms in 2024, increasing the intake recorded during the previous year by about five million. The second position was held by fresh cheese, of which approximately 100.5 million kilograms were consumed in Spanish households in 2024.
