Animation, a sector in continuous growth

The box office success of releases such as Inside Out 2, The Lion King, Toy Story 4, or Frozen 2 has contributed to the boom that animation seems to be experiencing recently. In fact, among the last three feature films, the industry grossed nearly *** billion U.S. dollars worldwide in 2019. A figure that, despite initial forecasts, could not be surpassed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the following four years were much better. In fact, the total value of this industry is estimated to have reached billion U.S. dollars by the end of 2024.

The film industry in numbers

In Spain, the average price of a movie ticket is around *** euros, while in other markets in the Old Continent it can even reach ** euros. This situation, however, did not seem to deter moviegoers. In the European Union, for example, cinema attendance in 2023 increased by *** million people compared to the previous year.
