Even though deforestation of the Amazon rainforest tends to decrease, Brazil continues to be the most harmful country to the forests on its territory.
Indonesia ranks second with ** square kilometers of deforested areas between 2007 and 2021.
However, it is generally not the deforested countries themselves that cause deforestation but Western countries in order to produce palm oil, coffee, or tobacco.
