The spread of COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, has led the vast majority of countries to implement various measures to try to curb infections, such as mandatory lockdowns, social isolation, or the closure of schools and other public spaces. As a result, the population spends much more time at home than usual; a reality that translates into increased use of media and, more specifically, different streaming platforms. Spain is a clear example, as this statistic shows, access to these types of platforms increased by *** percent on the weekend of March 17, the first after the declaration of the state of emergency, compared to the previous weekend. In Germany, meanwhile, this increase was approximately ** percent.
