The source states the following: "The denominator for the rate calculation for the period 2014-2019 was generated from the Demographic Reconciliation 1950 to 2019 by the National Population Council. The denominator for the years 2020-2023 corresponds to the population estimate prepared by INEGI based on the Housing Sampling Framework."
In 2023, the crude mortality rate in Mexico was 619 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, representing a decrease of 6 percent compared to the previous year's figure. As expected, the highest values during the analyzed period were recorded in 2020 and 2021, the most critical years of the COVID-19 pandemic, with rates of 860 and 879 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively.
