The Congress of the Republic of Peru approved on September 17 a new extraordinary withdrawal of funds from the Private Pension System, the eighth since its implementation in 2020 as a measure to address the impact of the pandemic. The previous seven withdrawals total ** billion soles, and the SBS projects that this eighth release could reach * billion. The entity warns that, although these measures provide temporary relief to Peruvian households, retirement pensions will be considerably lower.
