The money in circulation consists of three main components; 1) Coins and banknotes issued by the Central Bank of Venezuela, 2) Demand Deposits, and 3) Transferable Savings Deposits.
* Since October 1, 2021, a new monetary expression of the bolÃvar came into effect, which consists of removing six zeros from the previous expression. This aims to simplify transactions and accounting records. The process involved issuing new "digital bolÃvar" banknotes as a replacement for the "sovereign bolÃvar."
