5G penetration rate among female mobile phone owners in Japan 2025, by age group
According to a survey conducted in Japan in January 2025, ***percent of female mobile phone owners in their twenties and thirties in Japan were using a 5G connection in 2025. The share was lower among other age groups. The rollout of commercial 5G services by Japan's major mobile carriers NTT Docomo, KDDI, and SoftBank started in March 2020. Rakuten Mobile, which became the country’s fourth major carrier in 2020, started its 5G rollout in September of that year.
