Between 2021 and 2023, sandwiches were the leading source of calories from ultra-processed foods among adults in the United States, accounting for 8.6 percent of total caloric intake. Sweet bakery products followed with 5.2 percent, while sweetened beverages contributed 4.4Â percent.
