On April 21st, 2025, Pope Francis died after twelve years of papacy. From May 7th, 2025, 135 cardinals will meet to elect Francis' successor in the Papal Conclave. Only cardinals aged below 80 are eligible to vote. Around one-third of the cardinal electors are aged between 75 and 79 years, while only 15 cardinals are aged up to 59 years.
