In 2023, California was the state with the highest consumption of geothermal energy in the U.S., followed by Nevada. In this two states, the power sector accounted for most of the geothermal energy consumption. In contrast, Florida and Michigan had a high residential and commercial geothermal consumption. Overall, the U.S. consumed roughly *** trillion British thermal units of geothermal energy in 2023.Â
