As of May 2024, survey respondents gave their opinion on perceived backlash against the sustainability agenda. North America was the region that perceived more backlash, with ** percent of experts supporting this view, followed by Europe at ** percent. In contrast, experts in Latin American and in the Asia-Pacific region perceived the least significant backlash, with only ** percent and ** percent of respondents, respectively, reporting this concern.

Regarding the impact of this backlash—if any—on the transition to sustainability, experts in Europe, North America, and Latin America had similar perceptions. Slightly more than half believed it would have some or a great impact in the coming years. This contrasts with experts in the Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East, who largely saw no or little impact on the transition to sustainability.
