Net cross-border mergers and acquisitions are calculated by considering the sales of companies in the host economy to foreign multinational enterprises. They exclude the sale of foreign affiliates, which are already owned by foreign multinational enterprises, to other multinational enterprises. Divestments are the sale of foreign affiliates to domestic firms. Totals do not include the financial centers in the Caribbean.
