The FDI confidence index is calculated as a weighted average of the number of high, medium, and low responses to questions regarding the likelihood of making a direct investment in the market over the next three years. Values are calculated on a scale of 0 to 3, with 3 being the highest level of confidence in a market for Foreign Direct Investment, and 0 being the lowest level of confidence.
Emerging markets are any markets falling outside the high income category.
In 2024, China had a foreign direct investment (FDI) confidence index score of ****, the highest of the emerging economies. The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia followed in second and third. Worldwide, the United States had the highest FDI confidence score, with China in third. The FDI confidence index ranks the likelihood of companies making a FDI in a given country.
