Government support for energy in the form of subsidies reached 3.16 trillion Indian rupees in the financial year 2023. Energy transmission and distribution accounted for nearly 54 percent of the subsidies, with 1.7 trillion rupees. Renewable energies received 148 billion Indian rupees in subsidies that year.
