Uusimaa, the region where Helsinki is located, had the largest amount of new electric vehicle registrations in Finland in 2023. Nearly * electric cars were sold in the region that year, compared to some in Southwest Finland, the second region in the ranking. Battery-electric vehicles were more popular across regions than their plug-in hybrid electric counterparts. For example, over six in ** EVs registered for the first time in Uusimaa were BEVs.
