In England in 2023/24, the older a mother was when giving birth made it more likely they would deliver via a Cesarean section. Around 54 percent of births involving a mother aged between 20 and 24 years were a spontaneous vertex delivery, compared to 36 percent in the 40 to 44 year age group.
