Regional variations in climate change perception

The level of concern about climate change varies significantly across different countries. Mexico, Brazil, and Turkey had the highest levels of apprehension, with around **percent of people in these countries saying the effects of climate change in their local area are severe. In contrast, only a quarter of Swedish respondents perceive severe climate change effects in their area.

Displacement concerns and future outlook

Climate-induced displacement is a growing worry in some regions. In Turkey, for instance, 68 percent of respondents fear being displaced from their homes due to climate change within the next 25 years. This concern is echoed in Brazil, where about ** percent share similar worries. In 2023, around **** million internal displacements were reported worldwide due to weather-related disasters, with flooding and storm events being the main causes.
