Respondents included those who previously answered "ASEAN" in response to a question about which country or regional organization is currently the most influential economic power in Southeast Asia.
Respondents are professionals from the following categories: academia, think-tankers, or researchers; private sector representatives; civil society, non-government organisations (NGOs) or media representatives; government officials; and regional or international organisations personnel.
ASEAN stands for Association of Southeast Asian Nations and is a political and economic union composed of the eleven member states Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.

In a survey conducted in 11 Southeast Asian countries in 2026, the majority of respondents from several ASEAN countries were welcoming the growing economic influence of the ASEAN in the region. This answer was particularly popular in Brunei, as it was chosen by **** percent of the country's survey participants. However, especially worried about the growing economic influence of ASEAN in the region were respondents from Thailand.
