The Pickup Trucks segment includes mini, mid-size, full-size, and heavy-duty pickup trucks which have an enclosed cabin in the front and an open cargo area in the back. Sales of pickups of all uses (e.g., campers, police vehicles) are included. All key figures shown represent the sales of new pickup trucks in the basic configuration in the respective year. Used vehicles are not taken into account, nor is adapted equipment for the new cars sold. The prices and revenues shown as well as the distribution of connectivity, drive types, autonomy levels, and average CO2 emissions are accordingly based on the basic models.
Pickup truck sales crashed in 2021 and 2022 in Canada, due to inventory constraints related to the automotive microchip shortages. This limited supply deeply impacted Canadian pickup sales, which slumped further during those two years than at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sales are estimated to rebound in 2023, and are forecast to reach some ** in 2028.
