Share of e-wallet payment transactions in West Africa 2022, by type
As of 2022, cash top-ups occupied the largest share (** percent) of e-wallet payments supported by electronic money institutions within member countries of the West African Monetary Union (WAMU). This was followed by cash withdrawals and person-to-person transfers, with around ** percent and ** percent, respectively. On the other hand, bill payments, salary payments, and remittances from individual bank accounts were some of the least types of e-wallet transactions performed by people within the region.
