As of 2023, around of the UK public expressed consent regarding the secondary use of their health data by the NHS to understand the risk of people getting a disease so they can be offered services and to plan and improve local services. The public was, however, slightly more reluctant for their data to be used by health technology companies to develop health care products. In all cases, people were happier about sharing anonymous health data than allowing the use of identifiable private health data.
