Domestic production on the United Kingdom Continental Shelf (UKCS) accounted for ** percent of the UK's natural gas supply in 2022, and roughly a quarter of gas supply-related carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions. Pipeline imports from Norway accounted for ** percent of supply's that year, but only accounted for percent of UK gas supply CO₂ emissions. By comparison, LNG imports from the United States and Qatar made up less than a quarter of the UK's natural gas supply in 2022, but represented more than half of the CO₂ emissions. The average carbon intensity of LNG imports to the UK is roughly **** times higher than from domestic production.
